Hello again. I forgot to come comment on this. How are the projects coming along? Still stuck in Indianapolis doing land surveying, and planning to teach myself calculus and differential equations so that I can study physics properly. (Conceptually, they’re getting it wrong, but I want a mathematical proof to go with the logic.)
Hi Eric,
Good to hear from you! I’m still pushing forward with my movie screen idea, laser projector and CNC mill. When are you coming back?
I will be back on August 9th, but I leave for Lincoln, NE on August 18th, so a little over a week back in town. Shoot me some mail on my gmail some time if you want. I’ve been absorbing physics books lately. I’m just so tired of philosophy right now. I’ve gotten all the answers I’m concerned with. Physics has always been better than metaphysics to me. I’m planning to teach myself Calculus, Analytic Geometry and Differential Equations during the fall, and any more time it takes during the M.A. I want the M.A., but I’m not concerned with a Ph.D. in philosophy. Right now… Considering a 4-year tour in the Air Force after the M.A. is complete in 2 years. Mom thinks she can get me a position as an officer in engineering, which will serve me better in physics. Practical, would keep me in practice for my maths. There’s also an entire military research department in the Air Force that would directly involve physics and such. We’ll see. It would also mean plenty of money and saved up with little personal expenses in the military, plus the G.I. bill to help the next step… M.S. in physics, and… I don’t think there’s any need to plan past that point yet. If it went that route, that takes me clear to 33. Being 25 now, I think that’s more than enough planning ahead.
Anyway, hopefully we can get in touch when I’m in town. The new gadget looks cool. I’m planning to take everybody out somewhere for sushi, or dim sum, something like that. They pay me much more than this job is really worth, I think, but I’m not complaining… I have plenty of worthwhile things to fund with the money.
It’s odd. I like the north, but after 12 years there, San Antonio does feel kind of homey. I don’t mind being away for graduate school and military, but I’m going to have to drop in from time to time. I can’t go through life without Taco Cabana.
Hey there, Great work. I just thought I would stop by and introduce myself. I am Riley Porter and one of the founders of Contraptor.org it would appear that our free time fun activities are very much the same!
Come check out the work we are doing at http://www.contraptor.org I am sure it will interest you. We are working on a DIY CNC now thats should be accurate and pretty easy to make. Anyhow just wanted to say hi.
